The performance of our industry, based on the enormous sacrifice we have all made, is slowly driving the crisis away. Last year, for example, we already showed signs that the worst of the crisis is part of the past, with a positive performance around 10%. Taking into account the results experienced in previous years, when the entire economy was affected by the crisis, we can say that we had a performance that led us to recover part of the lost ground.
The good news is that several indicators show positive data compared to past comparatives. The interest rate continues to fall, inflation is low and under control, the level of unemployment is gradually dropping and this stirs the spirits of the whole society. Because of this situation, new companies and businesses begin to appear, entrepreneurs have come to believe again that it is possible to establish a business in the country and make it prosper.
In 2018, we are very confident that this pace will reveal a virtuous circle and that the economy will return to good results. We have several factors that collaborate in this sense. As we have seen, the leading indicators are doing well. We also don't have any crisis in relation to the exchange rate, exports continue well and the production lines of our industry continue to reduce idleness levels. Agriculture, which always responds favorably, is very well structured and only the commerce and service sector should present data more related to the adjustment of the economy itself.
This year we will still have the World Cup and elections and these factors, historically, have encouraged the population. For all these reasons, we understand that it is time to look for the best way to lead our sector in the word inclusion, as digital certification has already proven to be reliable and has numerous benefits. Every day we present to society new applications of technology.
Nowadays, entire sectors are already using the digital certificate on a daily basis, eliminating paper and bureaucracy. We understand that we have an important mission: to help leverage a modern economy adapted to the new competitive scenario. For this, we need, more and more, to include the citizen. Act didactically to show the functioning of the digital certificate and allow access to as many people as possible.
