Artemisia, which specializes in disseminating and promoting social impact businesses in Brazil, has open enrollment for the Acceleradora program. Startup entrepreneurs focused on the education, financial services, health and housing sectors – products and services aimed at classes C, D and E – have until June 15 to register, free of charge, on the website. www.artemisia.org.br.

The Accelerator is an intensive program by Artemisia through which the organization challenges entrepreneurs to test, in practice, new revenue models, in addition to refining social impact in an environment of co-creation and collaboration involving low-income communities, other entrepreneurs, mentors and investors.

The program aims to prepare selected businesses to achieve large-scale economic and social results, making them more attractive to national and international investors.

Among the accelerator's selection criteria are social impact – businesses with products and services designed to improve the quality of life of the low-income population – entrepreneurs with a genuine intention to change Brazil for the better; scale potential (profitable models with scalable solutions); and maturity stage, that is, early stage businesses, from pilot ideas to startups with products on the market and seeking rapid growth. “Artemisia seeks entrepreneurs who dream big when the topic is about social impact, but who are pragmatic when the topic is a result, explains Renato Kiyama, director of acceleration”.

In the last three years, Artemisia has articulated more than R$ 26 million for the 35 accelerated businesses, which have benefited more than 3 million people and generated more than 350 direct jobs by the accelerated companies. Among the accelerated businesses are Banco Pérola, Geekie, Vivenda and Hand talk.

Artemisia was the first organization in Brazil to be part of the Omidyar Foundation, one of the most respected organizations in the impact investing sector, founded by Pierre Omidyar, an Ebay entrepreneur. Recently, Artemisia was also announced as one of the five organizations selected, among 115 from all over Latin America, by the Rockefeller Foundation, Avina, Avina Americas and Omidyar public notice.
