The numbers show a reduction in apprehensions compared to last year, as a result of the intensification of anti-smuggling operations in the period.

In the first half of 2013, seizures by the Brazilian Federal Revenue Office in Foz do Iguaçu, carried out within the scope of the Armored Frontier Operation, totaled US1TP3Q 50.84 million. This value is 17% less than the total seizures recorded in the same period of 2012, which were US$ 61.09 million.

Among the factors that led to the reduction in seizures, the continuous operations to combat smuggling and embezzlement carried out uninterruptedly from 08/04 to 22/06, when operations Fronteira Blindada and Ágata were carried out, at the toll plaza located in the municipality of São Miguel do Iguaçu.
