More than 2,300 buyers, investors and opinion makers are in Brazil

During the FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014, the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) will develop interaction actions between foreign and Brazilian businessmen, with the expectation of reaching around US$ 6 billion in business. More than 2,300 buyers, investors and opinion makers from 104 countries are in Brazil during this period, participating in business agendas organized by the World Cup Project, an entity initiative.

The World Cup is just beginning, but business resulting from visits by foreigners is already being initiated, said Mauricio Borges, president of Apex-Brasil, at a press conference at the João Saldanha Open Media Center (CAM), in Rio de Janeiro, held on the 13th of June. Among the countries with representatives in the World Cup Project are Brazil's biggest trading partners such as China, the United States and Japan, European countries and Latin America.

Developed in partnership with more than 700 Brazilian companies and sector entities, the World Cup Project actions are planned for 12 World Cup matches, in five Brazilian cities: São Paulo, Brasília, Fortaleza, Belo Horizonte and Rio de Janeiro. In addition to business agendas, Apex-Brasil will offer an environment for hospitality in stadiums, prepared to encourage dialogue between Brazilian and foreign businessmen, unlike what happens in conventional business meetings. “The action reinforces trust, loyalty and partnership, indispensable for doing business, which is the main objective of the project”, said Borges.

The first phase of the project was carried out last year by Apex-Brasil during the Confederations Cup, between June 15 and 30, 2013, and generated US$ 3 billion in closed deals between Brazilian companies and 903 foreign businessmen from more than 70 countries.
