Publication launched by Vertical Agribusiness of ACATE crosses
socioeconomic data and assists entrepreneurs and producers in decision making

Vertical Agribusiness of the Catarinense Association of Technology Companies (ACATE) launched this Tuesday (03.06), in Florianópolis, the Yearbook Agribusiness and Technology 2014, a document that crosses socioeconomic data on the sector in Santa Catarina and also provides information on public investment and political representation at the state and federal levels. According to Vertical's director, Clovis Rossi, the unprecedented research, which has the support of Sebrae/SC, aims to remedy one of the bottlenecks for the development of the sector: the lag and the difficulty of accessing information. “Entrepreneurs and producers need consolidated and updated data to develop their business strategies and to make more assertive decision-making”, he explains.

The publication has 10 chapters and was developed in the last nine months. Official sources were consulted, such as the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), the Ministry of Labor and Employment (MTE) and the Agricultural Research and Rural Extension Company of Santa Catarina (Epagri). For the president of Cidasc, Enori Barbieri, the agribusiness sector is much larger and more complex than we know, but the available figures on it, due to the lag, cause a distortion of the scenario.

The launch of the yearbook was carried out during the Verticalmoço da ACATE, the entity's monthly networking event, broadcast live on the internet. On the occasion, the vice president of ACATE, Everton Gubert, presented to the public the history and current data of the Association and highlighted the main lines of action of the entity: market, innovation and education. Gubert also addressed the performance of ACATE's Business Verticals, presenting the figures for Vertical Agribusiness. The group of nine companies earned R$ 42 million in 2012.

In addition to businessmen, the meeting brought together representatives of entities in the sector, such as the Integrated Agricultural Development Company of Santa Catarina (Cidasc), Association of Banana Growers of Corupá, the Rural Union of São José, the Federation of Agriculture and Livestock of the State of Santa Catarina and Softex.
