Inohub aims at collaborative work and knowledge exchange

Anpei – National Association for Research and Development of Innovative Companies – put Inohub into operation, a social network that enables this type of interaction between its members.

"Inohb unites people and organizations to encourage innovation in Brazil, as network collaboration leverages, enhances and often enables the development of products, services and solutions", says Carolina Matos, one of the leaders of the project at Anpei. "The development of innovation solutions depends more and more on the exchange between different areas of knowledge, without geographic borders – something that collaboration in a virtual network makes possible", he emphasizes.

In its format, Inohub is a social network, with some similarities to Facebook. The user creates his profile, finds people and can participate in several innovation communities. "For each topic, the network has an open community – focused on free collaboration – and a restricted one, focused on building knowledge by a specific team", explains Carolina.

The project also includes thematic committees, which meet periodically to discuss and map the best innovation practices with the aim of disseminating them to other members, either through presentations at Anpei's annual event, or through the publication of guides. With Inohub, the expectation is to intensify the work of the committees, since professionals will be able to exchange information both in face-to-face meetings and through the network. Currently, the topics addressed are about intellectual property management, fostering innovation, ICT and company interaction, innovation in services, and high-performance R&D.

"In 2014, we are going to start the second phase of Inohub, in which we will open the network to other stakeholders", says Carolina. Members of entities such as Sebrae, Anprotec, Brazilian and foreign universities, innovation funders, the government of Brazil and other countries, among other actors, will join Inohub.

Consisting of 168 companies that continuously invest in research, development and innovation, of different sizes and sectors, Anpei brings together the leaders of the production chains in Brazil, such as Petrobras, Vale, Braskem and Natura. Around 80% private investments in innovation in Brazil are made by companies associated with Anpei. Entities that support innovation activities, such as universities, research institutes, industry federations and government bodies, are also members of the Association. In total, there are 265 associates.

To participate in Inohub, the company needs to be an Anpei member. Each member has a number of accesses proportional to their size. Larger organizations can have up to 100 free logins. Among Anpei's associates, 48% are big companies. More information: inohub@anpei.org.br.
