New bookstore website expands operations in the marketplace model and evolves omnichannel solutions with free delivery to all stores in the chain

Gaining more competitiveness and expanding operations in e-commerce were the main points that motivated Saraiva to migrate its virtual store platform to VTEX, the leader in digital commerce in Brazil. The change is part of the company's business strategy, which includes the evolution of the marketplace model and the improvement of omnichannel resources.

A pioneer in the Brazilian online commerce sector, Saraiva is revamping its online store and found in VTEX the appropriate solution for its new moment of expansion, allowing for a more agile and dynamic operation with a focus on innovation and constant evolution of the digital platform.

"We believe that VTEX is the ideal partner to help Saraiva in its business plan. In addition to offering a lighter infrastructure, the solution has processes aimed at optimizing sales. With the migration, we will have more strength and agility to respond to the demands of the digital retail and be aligned with the demands of our consumers", says Felipe Pavoni, Saraiva's e-commerce director.

With VTEX, the company expands its operations in its own marketplace, expanding its product mix with strategic partners and in synergy with the business. Thus, in addition to offering customers the full range of products from the publishing and entertainment market, such as games, CDs, DVDs, films and stationery items, the store is more complete with partners in the technology, toys and accessories segment, available for purchase with full integration, allowing the customer to buy Saraiva and partner products in a single order.

Another highlight of the migration is the optimization of the omnichannel concept. Currently, Saraiva already offers several services by integrating its channels with customers, however, the objective of the project is to bring more efficiency in this modality. The VTEX solution will allow all stores and inventories to be connected intelligently and in real time, allowing them to offer their customers a shipping from store experience, in which the stores become a hub for the distribution of orders placed via e-commerce. ; and in-store pickup, a service already offered by the network in which the customer buys through the website and chooses which store to pick up at. With this, regardless of where the customer buys, he will be served in the best way he prefers.

“VTEX has invested a lot to offer the market a robust and flexible solution, capable of meeting different types of operations. At Saraiva, we had the opportunity to meet very specific demands and suggest improvements with a high financial and operational impact, creating an environment conducive to a return to growth. All this, always focusing on a clean migration, without major inconvenience to an already consolidated operation. More than a technological platform, we position ourselves as strategic business partners”, says Rafael Forte, country manager Brazil at VTEX.

design and migration

As the VTEX platform is based on a self-scaling cloud and is marketed in the SaaS model, with the implementation, Saraiva will reduce costs related to the infrastructure and labor necessary for its maintenance and evolution, which over time has become more expensive and less efficient. From now on, a leaner technology team will be focused on developing projects that boost the business, without worrying about infrastructure and solution scalability issues.

Listed in the ranking of the 10 largest Brazilian e-commerces by the Sociedade Brasileira de Varejo e Consumo (SBVC), Saraiva needed a partner that could carry out the migration in a clean and agile way. Considering the replacement of current technology and integrations with internal solutions, such as ERP and various satellite services. The switch to VTEX started in March of this year.
