Governor Geraldo Alckmin launched this Thursday, 17th, the first edition of Pitch.Gov.SP, an event that seeks to attract innovative initiatives to solve the challenges of public administration. In partnership with the Associação Brasileira de Startups – an entity that represents and encourages the development of Brazilian startups -, the program will be the first of its kind in Latin America. And it intends to position São Paulo as one of the most innovative states on its continent, equaling the pioneers in the relationship with startups, such as several American states and also the United Kingdom.

“I want to invite all startups. If your startup has a solution to São Paulo's challenges, come and participate. Innovation, entrepreneurship, being at the forefront of science and knowledge are in the DNA of São Paulo. Today we are calling for companies with new ideas to improve the quality of public service in strategic sectors.”, commented Alckmin, optimistic about what is to come. “I'm sure we'll have good ideas for these 35 challenges,” he said.

The government of São Paulo, attentive to the innovative technological solutions that, at all times, are being developed to contribute to or solve the various problems and needs of society, created Pitch.Gov.SP. Through this modern public policy, it wants to approach technological solutions developed by start-ups, for issues of public interest, that improve the lives of citizens. At the same time that it opens up to these innovations with enormous intellectual capital, the Government also stimulates new entrepreneurs, strengthening this sector of the economy.

“This instrument created by Governor Alckmin is a big step in bringing the Government closer to startups and with a clear objective of improving the provision of services and public resources”, explained Karla Bertocco, Undersecretary of Partnerships and Innovation.

15 startups will be selected, which will help the public power to solve demands of health, education and facilities for the citizen. The action is coordinated by the Undersecretariat for Partnerships and Innovation, linked to the Secretariat of Government and has the support of the Secretariats of Education, Health and Economic Development, Science, Technology and Innovation, in addition to Prodesp, Centro Paula Souza, Social Solidarity Fund, Access SP and Poupatempo.
