The Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovations and Communications (MCTIC) and Correios Participações S/A (CorreiosPar) – a subsidiary of the Brazilian Post and Telegraph Company (ECT) – signed this Tuesday (1st) a technical cooperation agreement to promote joint actions within the scope of the National Startup Acceleration Program, Start-Up Brasil. "The agreement strengthens the innovation and modernization policy of Correios and helps the company's goal of always providing the best services and, every day, winning more admiration from Brazilian society", highlighted Minister Gilberto Kassab, during the signing ceremony .

The objective of the partnership is to promote joint initiatives in digital entrepreneurship, through the Start-Up Brasil program. CorreiosPar will invest in technology companies, startups, which have developed products and services aligned with Correios' business and can be part of its production chain, such as online sales and tracking of vehicles and goods. The ministry will help the company to select these startups.

The minister pointed out that Correios is changing the way it operates, becoming, more and more, a logistics and transport company. "We also have to change the focus of the ministry's support, so that Correios is prepared to face the competition and obtain better results in its operation in Brazil and in the world."

The Vice President of Administration, Finance and Controllership at Correios, Francisco Esquef, reinforced that the world is undergoing major technological transformations and, in order to remain current and competitive, Correios needs to adapt to the new reality. According to him, this agreement is in line with the company's renovation work, which includes activating partnerships between CorreiosPar and the private sector. "The Start-Up Brasil program will be a great partner in this process, where we will seek to offer more and more innovative products and services, in line with the new Correios."

The expectation is that the agreement will help boost Start-up Brasil. With the partnership, CorreiosPar will offer a commercialization channel for products and services developed by technology companies. Another planned action is the participation of representatives of CorreiosPar in the evaluation panel of projects selected for the program. The technical cooperation agreement will be valid for 12 months and may be extended by mutual agreement.
