Finep, an entity that has financed innovation in the country for 50 years, is decentralizing operations across the country, with the opening of regional offices. This week, Florianópolis started an articulation to be the city chosen as the headquarters in the South region, through a joint action between entities in the sector, such as the Catarinense Association of Technology Companies (ACATE), the Union of Technology Companies (Seinflo), the Support Foundation for Scientific and Technological Research of Santa Catarina (Fapesc) and the City Hall of the Capital.

On July 11, local entities and the municipal government received Finep's Innovation Director, Márcio Girão, at an event at ACATE's headquarters that brought together about 100 entrepreneurs to learn about new programs to stimulate innovation announced by the financier. "Santa Catarina is the second state that moves most financing projects in the country, behind São Paulo", recalled Daniel Leipnitz, president of ACATE.

In addition, the Association successfully operated, as a regional agent, the Juro Zero program, which has become a milestone for the development of innovative companies in the state. Headquarters in the Northeast (Fortaleza) and Midwest (Brasília) are already confirmed - in the North, the choice is between Belém and Manaus.

At the event, director Márcio Girão and superintendent André Nunes presented the program Finep Startups, intends to provide a total of R$ 400 million over the next four years to be invested in startups with annual sales of up to R$ 3.6 million / year. The first public call, which is open until August 7 and can be accessed at this link (www.finep.gov. Br / finepstartup), has R$ 50 million in resources. Startups of agritech, BIM, biotechnology, sustainable cities, defense, creative economy (electronic games), education, energy, fintechs, IoT, advanced manufacturing, mining, chemistry, oil, gas and ethanol can participate.

“There is a void of support and financing at precisely the most important moment and where there is the greatest risk, which is at the beginning of the company, after the prototype has been validated. Finep wants to enter this cycle of startups to stimulate the seed capital market in the country ”, said Girão. In addition to the announcement for startups, Finep presented the Support Program for Innovative Acquisition in Telecommunications Companies (Funttel), which finances the purchase of national telecom equipment, and Public Open Calls together with CDTI, an entity that fosters innovation of the government of Spain and which enables the creation of international project consortia between Brazilian and Spanish entities.
