More than 500 businessmen and IT professionals participated in the 7th edition of the ABES Software Conference, held on September 18, at WTC Events, in São Paulo. With a record audience, this edition had as its central theme “Emerging Businesses: from Blockchain to IoT.” The event was sponsored by Microfocus, IBM, Microsoft, Magic Software, Barracuda, Servnet and Magna Sistemas.

Francisco Camargo, president of Abes, at the opening of the conference, highlighted the digital transformation and the impacts on the Brazilian economy and society: “More than an era of changes, we are living a change of era. Digitization is an irreversible process and Brazilian competitiveness depends on how companies deal with this issue”.

The director also highlighted Brazil's vocation and the potential for exporting IT services. “Today we export 2 billion dollars of IT. We have to take advantage of what we are strong in and continue in that line”.  See the presentation here.

Engineer Emerson Kapaz, businessman, former federal deputy, rapporteur of the New Law of Corporations, spoke afterwards, presenting his assessment of the current situation in Brazil and the political, economic and social perspectives.

He believes in the recovery and renewal of the political scene after the 2018 elections. "All of this consolidates my positive outlook. We are heading towards a disruptive economy and this will interfere with our daily lives and will interfere with politics. The elections next year will be based on digital campaigns. The digital campaign will be revolutionary and will play a decisive role in the next elections”, he said.

Kapaz pointed out that the Brazilian economy is starting to resume growth, with inflation below the target, the Selic rate falling, and the Ceiling PEC will help to contain public spending – favorable aspects for sustained development. He also spoke of the need to end the war on ICMS collection rates between states.
