The conference will feature lectures and debates on new laws that impact the sector; trends and increased national competitiveness and how to maintain the growth of the Brazilian IT market

On August 13th, ABES (Brazilian Association of Software Companies) will hold, at the Renaissance Hotel, in São Paulo, the ABES Software Conference 2014, whose theme is “IT business environment in Brazil”And will discuss current and recurring issues about the software and services market, such as competitiveness, internet of things, cloud computing and new laws that impact the sector.

The event will consist of three panels of debates: Legislation, Information Technology and Market and Sectoral Policies. On the occasion, Jorge Sukarie, president of ABES, will present the study on the Brazilian Software and Services Market in 2013, conducted with IDC.

New laws that impact the sector

Created in January of this year, the Anticorruption Law will be addressed at the ABES conference by Dr. Ordélio Azevedo Sette, from the Azevedo Sette Advogados law firm. The lawyer intends to clarify the obligations of companies under this new law, its consequences in case of non-compliance, how to organize and prevent themselves with the rules of compliance.

ABES Legal Director, Dr. Manoel Antônio dos Santos will make a presentation on the legislative reforms that impact the Software and Services sector. The legislation panel will also include Glauco Marchezin, Specialist in Labor and Social Security Law at Sage IOB, who will address the e-social and other tax obligations.

Trends and the increase of national competitiveness

Chief Scientist at the IBM Research Laboratory, Fábio Gandour, will participate in the Information Technology panel with the presentation “The competitiveness of national software”. For Gandour, software development in Brazil has very advanced segments and others with huge needs not yet covered. In his lecture, Gandour intends to compare the application areas where national software is more competitive.

The panel will also count on the participation of Gabriel Antonio Marão, from the Brazilian IOT Forum, who will make a presentation on Internet of Things and also with Lauro de Lauro, CEO of Dualtec, who will address the theme: Your product is ready for the cloud”?

For Lauro, infrastructure as a service (IaaS) offerings are in constant evolution with strong players and new orchestration platforms being launched, but the maturity of applications is still the main problem for the full use of cloud resources. On the occasion, the speaker will address the need to understand the maturity of software for use in the cloud and the eight main challenges of migrating to SaaS.

ABES president, Jorge Sukarie, will present in the last panel on “Market and Sectorial Policies” the study that the entity produces annually with IDC on the Brazilian Software and Services Market in 2013, which presented the country in 7th place in the world ranking of the IT market, with an investment of US$ 61.6 billion, a result 15.4% higher than that recorded in 2012.
