ABES participates in the XXXIV ABPI International Congress of Intellectual Property, which takes place from August 24th to 26th, at the Sheraton WTC, in São Paulo. Under the theme “Intellectual Property as an Essential Factor for Economic Growth”, the congress will bring together the most expressive national and foreign personalities involved in the debate and improvement of Intellectual Property.
During three days – in a program distributed in plenary sessions and panels – judges, businessmen, government officials, lawyers, academics and other specialists in the field will debate, among others, Intellectual Property topics related to Patents, Copyright, Technology Transfer, Biotechnology, Cultivars, Internet and Sports.
on the 26th of August, Dr. Manoel Antônio dos Santos, Legal Director of ABES, will participate in the Panel - Virtual Stores – sale of counterfeit products and use of third-party brands: civil and criminal matters, which will address real losses for owners of brands object of sales of replicas or counterfeits in Virtual Stores. In addition to the challenges posed by the democratization of access to consumer items and the risks of counterfeiting and systematic violation of Intellectual Property rights; civil and criminal responses.
The event – which in its 2013 version was attended by around 1,000 participants – will feature the participation of important national government entities and bodies, such as the National Industry Confederation (CNI) and the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) , as well as international IP entities such as the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI).
