Between December 18 and 21, 2017, the city of Florianópolis (SC) received researchers, entrepreneurs and members of the Italian government for the UDESC-UNIBO Joint Lab on Big Data for Industry 4.0, which aimed to promote partnerships between Brazilian and Italian companies, to stimulate the discussion on the internationalization of companies, as well as to facilitate the realization of academic research projects in the technological area between Brazil and Italy. ABES was present at the event with its marketing and market intelligence director, Carlos Sacco, and its innovation director, Jamile Sabatini Marques.

One of the highlights of the program was the workshop held on December 19 in the auditorium of FAPESC (Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa e Inovação do Estado de Santa Catarina), with lectures by Antonio Corradi, professor at UNIBO (University of Bologna); Lucia Mazzoni, Head of Innovation in Services at ASTER, the institution responsible for innovation and technology sharing between companies and universities in the Emilia-Romagna region; and Giovanni Grazia, who is in charge of the Emilia-Romagna Digital Agenda (ADER).

Big data and industry 4.0

The arrival of the Italians should leverage the realization of a feasibility study for the formation of an international research group, according to Prof Carlos Roberto De Rolt, from UDESC (University of the State of Santa Catarina). “We brought to the academic and business community something that started at our university, but that we are opening up to everyone”, said De Rolt, who, among other things, works at LabGES (Management Technologies Laboratory) of the Professional Master's in Administration at ESAG , one of the creators of the UDESC-UNIBO Joint Lab project.

Named Join Lab, this new laboratory, to be formed by researchers and entrepreneurs from Brazil and European Union countries, intends to research the use of Big Data to develop the so-called industry 4.0 – the so-called Fourth Industrial Revolution.
