The president of the Federation and Center of Industries of the State of São Paulo (Fiesp and Ciesp), Paulo Skaf, met this Monday (7/6), at the entity's headquarters, with more than 100 presidents of unions and federations of all 56 sectors of the economy, which will be impacted by changes in payroll tax relief, that is, by the increase in the tax burden.

“The agenda was to articulate a business movement to prepare and present a proposal for PL 57/15 which is currently in the Senate for voting”, explained Jorge Sukarie, president of ABES. The objective is to seek a consensus alternative that does not burden companies so much, does not further affect the level of employment and meets, even partially, the needs of fiscal adjustment. "We want something that harms the productive sector less, minimizing the negative effects on the economy," said Skaf.

“We believe that an articulated movement of this size, which brought together all these sectors, can make a difference in the direction of the PL on the exemption. We now have some chance of reversing it”, assessed Sukarie. The next step in this mobilization is the presentation of the proposal in Brasília, through meetings with Renan Calheiros, president of the Senate, and with vice president Michel Temer, responsible for the political articulation of the federal government.
