These last few months have been very intense. Due to the pandemic, many plans were changed, new challenges for people, companies and governments. Amidst so many changes in the world and in Brazil, including in the legal framework, one of them has attracted many debates: the General Law for the Protection of Personal Data (#LGPD), scheduled to come into force in August 2020 and which, until now, had not confirmed its postponement or not, despite bills and MPs that are being processed in the National Congress.
For now, what has been confirmed is the postponement of the validity of articles 52 to 54 of the LGPD that deal with administrative sanctions, postponed to August 1, 2021, according to Law 14.010/2020, sanctioned by the President of the Republic.
Another important aspect pending is the creation of the National Data Protection Authority (ANPD), which is not yet in operation. It plays a central role in defining the implementation details of all the rules that the LGPD establishes.
