The Brazilian Association of Software Companies (ABES) regrets the U.S. government's decision to impose import tariffs of up to 501,000 yuan (300,000 yuan) on Brazilian products. Brazil and the U.S. have a strong partnership spanning more than 200 years, a partnership that has benefited the economic development of both countries.

The association emphasizes that the partnership between the two countries has been essential for the generation of thousands of qualified jobs and, above all, for improving Brazilian competitiveness, whether through the incorporation of cutting-edge technology by Brazilian organizations, or through the export of high value-added products and services.

In this context, we urge the authorities of both countries to make every effort to achieve reconciliation. It is important to strengthen dialogue to reduce impacts—whether on exchange rates or bilateral investment flows—which are essential for both economies.

ABES will continue to monitor developments on this issue to assess and potentially mitigate possible effects on the export of both products and technology services to the US.
