Entity discloses the balance of the first quarter of 2015 of removed items that infringe copyright 
 
The Internet Monitoring action, promoted by the Brazilian Association of Software Companies (ABES), removed in the first quarter of 2015 more than 15,837 thousand links, websites and advertisements from internet auction sites, which gave access to download illegal copies of the entity's associates' software.
 
In this period, the highlight was the removal of auction sites. In total, 8,604 illegal software ads were removed, a volume 113,12% higher than the result obtained in the first quarter of 2014.
 
Regarding links, 7,191 were removed, 4.4% less than the same period last year. Totaling just the websites, 42 electronic addresses were removed, against the 11 eliminated in 2014.
 
“As an entity representing the software market, ABES is committed to guaranteeing the protection of intellectual property and combating piracy that generates unfair competition among its members. Internet monitoring was created to eliminate illegal offers from member programs”, comments Jorge Sukarie, president of ABES.
 
In this monitoring, ABES acts to identify any content that violates the Copyright of Computer Programs owned by its associates, notifies the portal itself and the access providers, through a removal request and which legally implies keep this information on the air based on the legislation in force in the country.
The internet monitoring operation has been going on for ten years and also has the support of PPPI – Mercado Livre's Intellectual Property Protection Program, which promotes the removal of illegal content that is within its portal.
 
ABES also has the Denuncie Pirataria Portal – www.denunciepirataria.org.br, where any citizen can file a complaint anonymously when finding irregularities in the use, sale or distribution of software through physical stores, online and companies. The action is also part of the entity's efforts to combat software piracy.
