Adding only the total number of auction sites, the entity managed to remove 4,037 illegal software ads in the period, a volume 12.6% higher than the result obtained in the first quarter of 2013. Regarding links, 7,509 were removed, 3.1% a less than the same period last year. Totaling just the websites, 11 electronic addresses were removed, against the 15 eliminated in 2013.

“Internet monitoring was created to eliminate illegal offers from member programs on the internet. In addition, ABES, as a representative entity of the software market, is committed to ensuring the protection of intellectual property and combating piracy that generates unfair competition among its members.”, comments Jorge Sukarie, president of ABES.

To carry out the operation, ABES acts to identify any content that violates the Copyright of Computer Programs owned by its members, notifies the portal itself and the access providers, through a removal request and what legally implies to keep this information on the air based on the legislation in force in the country.

The internet monitoring operation has been going on for ten years and also has the support of PPPI – Mercado Livre's Intellectual Property Protection Program, which promotes the removal of illegal content that is within its portal. “PPI's support helps us withdraw offers in less than 24 hours,” says Sukarie.

ABES also has the Portal Report Piracy - www.denunciepirataria.org.br, in which any citizen can file a complaint anonymously when finding irregularities in the use, sale or distribution of software by physical stores, online and companies. The action is also part of the entity's efforts to combat software piracy.
