ABES created a new participation space for its associates, with the implementation of the Regulatory Committee, in order to enable businessmen and their representatives to participate more intensely in the debates around the laws, policies and government programs that impact the ICT sector . “The association already has a history of achievements and we want to intensify this work. With more involvement of the associates, we will be able to elaborate new proposals that will be forwarded to the Executive and the Legislative”, explains Jorge Sukarie, president of ABES.

Competitiveness: taxation and incentives; Regulation of the Marco Civil; The Personal Data Protection Draft and the improvement of the Information Technology Law are some of the topics on the agenda of the committee, which has already played an important role in preparing the plan "For a Digital and Competitive Brazil”, delivered to presidential candidates and candidates for state governments and signed by ABES, Assespro and Brasscom, with a suggestion of actions aimed at stimulating the growth of the information and communication technology sector in the country.

The Regulatory Committee is coordinated by Ygor Valério, legal manager at ADOBE, and by Fabio Rua, director of government relations at IBM. On the subject, Valério points out that “Brazil is experiencing an evolution, stimulated and sustained by new technologies. Several laws and programs are under discussion and, as a result, we are going to strengthen our influence in the decision-making process, so that they bring more advantages and innovations to the sector”. In this sense, Rua evaluates that “the committee's space is an important tool to identify the main demands of the companies, strengthen the dialogue and engagement of the associates and define dialogue strategies with the Government, based on the legitimacy and representativeness of ABES”.
