 Francisco Camargo assumes the presidency for the next triennium 
 
ABES announces Francisco Camargo as the entity's new president and Paulo Milliet Roque as vice president, in addition to José Maurício Neves Rey, Sérgio Pereira Boacnin and Onivaldo Roncatti as statutory directors for the next three years. The new executive direction was chosen in an election held on March 29. On that occasion, the inauguration of the annual renewal of 1/3 of the association's deliberative council was also held. The former presidents of the association, Jorge Sukarie and Gérson Schmitt, assume the positions of president and vice president of the Board, respectively.
 
Over these years, since its foundation on September 9, 1986, ABES has been constantly working in the development of the national software and services sector, defending a vision and interests of IT companies with government, legislative and judicial representatives, in addition to offering its associates legal and labor consultancy, awareness campaigns on intellectual property, courses and lectures to improve the management and protection of IT services software companies' rights.
 
"ABES's new executive board aims to continue the entity's work of seeking new forms of development and support for the Brazilian Software and Services Industry, maintaining the projects already consolidated by the association and improving actions in favor of quality in education and professional specialization in the sector”, says Francisco Camargo, new president of ABES.
 
With over 20 years in the IT market, Francisco Camargo started his career in the financial market in the areas of IT, Leasing and Marketing at companies such as Credit Lyonnais and Banco Francês e Brasileiro, during which time he had the opportunity to work in France for two years . Founder of CLM Software, a company focused on Information Security, Specialized Infrastructure and Analytics, Francisco holds a degree in Production Engineering and Advertising and Marketing from the University of São Paulo (USP), and has a specialization degree from Harvard University. Active member of ABES since 2007, Francisco has already been a member of the board of the entity and was a member of the executive board during Jorge Sukarie's administration.
 
The entity participated in three decades of construction of legal and fiscal regulations for the sector, as shown in the timeline below. It is also recognized for its pioneering spirit and constant participation in the main forums and movements in defense of intellectual property on the creation of software and combating piracy.
 
In recent years, ABES has been adding to its goals the approximation and consolidation of common objectives and positions with other important sectorial entities, such as ACATE, ASSESPRO, BRASSCOM, FENAINFO, SOFTEX and SUCESSU, with which it has built and defended a consolidated sectorial agenda , strengthening the representation and visibility of the software and services sector.

Timeline: 30 years of ABES – activities of the entity and actions in which it was engaged

1986 – Foundation of ABES by 16 entrepreneurs in the sector;

1990 – Launch of the Campaign to combat copyright infringement gained ground in the country;

1998 – Association's participation in the process that led to the creation of the New Software Law in Brazil (9609/98);

2001 – Interministerial Committee to Combat Piracy, precursor of the current CNCP is created;

2003 – Creation of Complementary Law 116, which defines operations as a service, subject only to the ISS;

2007 – Launch of the Informatics Parliamentary Front and the Software and Services Sector Competitiveness Forum; 

2011 – Creation of the Brasil Maior Plan, by the Federal Government: Software is one of the four sectors of this Plan, and discussions start on the Outsourcing and Regulation of the Profession.

2013 – ABES, in partnership with the Assistance Fund for Software and Complementary Services Companies in Brazil (CAESBRA) and A2G Corretora de Seguros, made Saúde Bradesco viable for member companies.

 

2014 – ABES' participation in the creation of the BNDES MPME Inovadora credit line to finance innovative micro, small and medium-sized companies.
 
– Possession of the entity as a member of the National Council for Combating Piracy (CNPC), an agency linked to the Ministry of Justice.

– Signing of a cooperation agreement with CIETEC, with the aim of supporting the development of incubated companies and innovative technology-based startups.

– Launch of the “Legal Entrepreneur” Campaign with the objective of combating unfair competition and fostering national competitiveness, exploring the importance of using legalized software.

– Creation of the Innovation and Development Directorate, responsible for aggregating all information and actions to favor the access of associates to innovation and public or private financial resources.

– ABES, in partnership with the Assistance Fund of Software and Complementary Services Companies in Brazil (CAESBRA) and A2G Corretora de Seguros, made Saúde Bradesco viable for member companies.

2015 – New ABES partnerships with the objective of strengthening the technology sector in the country. Among them, WENOVATE – Center for Open Innovation Brazil, organizer of the “100 Open Startups” movement; the Sul-Riograndense Association for Software Development Support (SOFTSUL); Softex Campinas; the São Paulo Innovation Network (RPI – SP); Tecvitória – Technology-Based Companies Incubator (ES); the International Software Technology Center (PR and AM); and the technology parks BH-Tec (MG), Porto Digital (PE) and Itaipu (PR).

– Creation of the SaaS Committee, at ABES, focused on the Software as a Service model, and the Taxation Working Group, linked to the Regulatory Committee.
