with a presentation on the Brazil, Country Digital initiative

ABES directors were in Brasilia this Thursday (10/11) to address issues relevant to the IT sector and the program included several events and strategic meetings.

In the morning, Fábio Rua, Director of Government Relations and Regulatory Affairs at IBM and coordinator of the ABES Regulatory Committee, participated in the event Sector dialogues on data protection, a meeting promoted by CNI – National Confederation of Industry, which included representatives from the executive and legislative branches, companies and entities, to present and discuss cases on data protection and privacy.

Event discussed data protection

He presented the initiative Brazil, Digital Country, a platform that aims to debate and demystify the data-driven society. “This is a serious discussion that needs to involve society as a whole. On our website we adopt an accessible language and short texts, in which we share data use cases in sectors such as environment, education and health”, he explained. The executive also commented that data protection is a topic that transcends the technology industry, as it is in the interest of the population, of each individual.

At the end of the afternoon, ABES representatives met with Marcelo Pagotti, Secretary of Information Technology of the Ministry of Planning (MP). The federal body plays a key role in guiding direct, autarchic and foundational administration, providing guidelines for contracting software services and collaborating in the preparation of strategic projects. Among the MP's actions, the SISP stands out, a structure used by the federal government for the organization of work, control, supervision and coordination of the ICT area. The system currently comprises more than 220 public institutions.

“Brazil has been going through a period of turmoil, with profound changes in the political and economic scenarios, but we are confident that this situation will improve and we have been working hard to build an agenda for the future. We seek to dialogue with the government and other social segments. We are aware of the importance of public policies that encourage the development of the IT sector, which plays a fundamental role in Brazilian growth. New technologies contribute to boosting the economy, improving government management and improving the quality of life of the population”, pondered Francisco Camargo, executive president of ABES.
