Event will discuss certification trends
During the 1st WEEK OF INFORMATION, the INFORMATION MANAGEMENT Magazine it's the CRYPTO ID on September 28, from 9 am to 4 pm, at the Hotel Maksoud Plaza, in São Paulo, the WORKSHOP - DIGITAL IDENTITY, which will consist of two presentation panels and debates (see program at the end of the article). The event is supported by ABES.
To talk about this workshop, which is inserted in the growing need for information security measures and user authentication in the digital universe, the ABES portal interviewed Regina Tupinambá and Susana Taboas, directors and co-founders of Crypto Id, a company focused on digital identification .
“At Crypto Id, we deal with cryptography, biometrics, digital security and digital certificate and related topics, such as privacy, defense, information security and the internet of things. We work for the development of these technologies in Brazil, which is advancing ”, highlights Regina Tupinambá.
At the 2016 workshop, one of the new features of the program will be the presentation on biometrics by handwritten signature, which can be considered a fourth factor of authentication. “What you are is expressed in biometrics, like fingerprints and irises. It has acquired certification, which concerns authentication through the digital certificate. We have systems that check the person's identity for what they know, represented by the password. Handwritten biometrics is about how you are. A fraudster cannot print the characteristics of another person's writing, such as speed, compression, rhythm, among other elements ”, explains Susana Taboas.
Digital certification in Brazil
Brazil has gigantic applications in volume of digital certification, used mainly by taxpayers who contact the IRS. Certificates in Brazil have a differential that is interoperability, based on a standard guaranteed by ICP Brasil - the Brazilian Public Key Infrastructure.
Approximately 70% of certificates issued in Brazil are for legal entities. But, according to Tupinambá, it is necessary to see that certification is far beyond mandatory. “Managers need to understand that technology and information security are no longer options, they are obligations. Companies are being evaluated, today, based on the analysis of how much they keep their information safe ”, he points out.
The growth of digital certification in the Brazilian market has also occurred in two other areas: in Justice, with lawyers who use it to guide and monitor the processes in the judicial system; and in Health, either by the authentication of doctors to the internal systems of hospitals, but also by the use of authentication in medical records. “We envision that, soon, doctors will be able to send a drug order to the pharmacy only by digital means, adding practicality and more control. The technology may even generate data on drug consumption, the existence of epidemics, based on the analysis of the documents issued by the certification, concludes Taboas.
