Throughout the month of April, the survey carried out by the firm NELM Advogados, should listen to entrepreneurs and investors from startups to help them with the most critical points to be considered in the legal area.

Starting a business is not easy. It is necessary to remember, in addition to the physical aspects such as a good structure, the aspects involving legal obligations, for example, the latter being one of the biggest "headaches" in all types of business, including startups. As a result, ABES - Association of Brazilian Software Companies - announces its support for the survey "Legal Panorama of Startups", by Nogueira, Elias, Laskowski and Matias Advogados (NELM), which must listen to entrepreneurs and investors, throughout the April, and aims to map the main legal concerns and difficulties that the innovation entrepreneur encounters in his business.

Often, these legal aspects are left out, which can have negative consequences when it comes to obtaining more capital from investors or even in cases of mergers or acquisitions, for example. "The research will lead to a comprehensive survey that will allow the actors of the ecosystem to know which aspects cannot be ignored if they want to guarantee the success of their ventures and investments", says Eduardo Felipe Matias, partner in the business area of NELM and coordinator of the Empreendedor guide Law: Legal Aspects of Startups, a publication that was also supported by ABES.

The survey Legal Panorama of Startups aims to understand the dimension and the effects of this reality. The study has a questionnaire aimed at entrepreneurs and another one for investors, both with 10 practical and objective multiple choice questions, whose answers should not take more than 5 minutes.

"86% of ABES associates are micro and small companies. In 2017, the IT market grew 4.5% and startups are part of this evolution. Actions like this from the NELM office help to strengthen our sector, supporting companies that are being born and bringing more legal certainty to the market ", comments Francisco Camargo, president of ABES.
