Like any company, however, a startup is subject to a series of dilemmas involving laws and obligations.
Questions like: “When should I register my startup?”; “Is it possible to protect my idea?”; “How can I define the relationship with my partners clearly and securely?” are very common among these entrepreneurs. And finding answers to these questions may not be easy for those unfamiliar with these topics.
“Startups are today one of the most important sources of innovation. From them, the necessary technological solutions may emerge to promote the development and, mainly, the sustainability of our economy and our society in this century. The purpose of this material is to serve as a guide for those interested in startups to be able to navigate more easily through topics that are often arid for those unfamiliar with the legal universe”, says lawyer Eduardo Felipe Matias.
The initial chapters of the guide are dedicated to the relationship between entrepreneurs and the corporate part. The main day-to-day aspects in the contractual, labor and tax areas are also addressed, as well as the issue of trademarks, patents and electronic domain – topics relevant to new technology companies.
The startup's relationship with new investors is also covered in the publication, which analyzes the main structures for attracting investments, with emphasis on the new Participation Agreement between angel investors and startups, as a result of the recent Complementary Law 155/2016.
“The guide is quite complete and can be a great support for young entrepreneurs. Initiatives like this one with the objective of strengthening the Brazilian Technology Market are always welcome and should be encouraged”, says Francisco Camargo, president of ABES.
