Event discusses initiatives for smarter and more connected cities

To understand the characteristics of a smart and connected city, which indicators should be taken into account for this analysis, what is the role of citizens in the development of connected cities and what are the short, medium and long term solutions, Connected Smart Cities was created. “We, the creators of the event, believe that a Smart city is one that grows in a planned way through analysis of the development of some basic indicators such as economy, mobility, government, environment, urbanism and quality of life”, explains Paula Faria, executive director of Sator, the company that created and organized the event.

Connected Smart Cities 2017, which has the institutional support of ABES, takes place on June 21 and 22 at the Frei Caneca Convention Center in São Paulo, with the aim of debating initiatives to make our cities smarter and more connected. “Through the exchange of information, we unite cutting edge technology and service companies, specialists, city halls and people engaged with the optimization of cities in Brazil, seeking inspiration in solutions implemented in the smartest cities in the world”, adds Paula.

Connected Smart Cities involves companies, entities and governments in an event whose mission is to find the DNA of innovation and improvements for smarter and more connected cities, whether small or megacities. The Connected Smart Cities platform encompasses the following aspects: the development of a Ranking of Smart Cities in Brazil; an Award that will recognize the best initiatives developed for the improvement of cities; a Forum that will bring experts to discuss the main themes related to urban development; and an Expo that will feature the exhibition of companies sponsoring the project and a Business Round where buying and selling companies will have the opportunity to establish relationships and do business.

ranking

The Connected Smart Cities Ranking was launched in 2015, with a list of Brazilian cities mapped throughout 2014 and which, at the time, had the greatest potential for development. The methodology was developed by Urban Systems in partnership with Sator, based on a survey of the main national and international publications on the subject of smart, connected and sustainable cities. Based on these studies, around 300 indicators were listed, which gave rise to the final selection of 70 that could be measured in Brazilian cities. From there, these 70 indicators were developed and collected in a database of national bodies such as Ministries, Secretariats, Regulatory Agencies, among others.
