Andriei Gutierrez was chosen to lead the Brazilian Association of Software Companies for the next three years
ABES, whose purpose is to build a more digital and less unequal Brazil, announces Andriei Gutierrez as its new president. With a career marked by dedication to digital governance, data protection, cybersecurity and technology regulation – which makes the new president one of the most influential voices in the Brazilian technology sector today – Andriei Gutierrez holds a PhD in Political Science from the State University of Campinas (Unicamp) and in Sociology from the Université de Provence (France). With over 20 years of experience in the technology, public policy and government relations sectors, he was the leader of the Government Relations and Public Policy area for Latin America at Kyndryl, and manager and director of the Government Relations and Regulatory Affairs area at IBM.
The election, which took place on the afternoon of this Monday (24/03), also appointed the other members of the board ABES. All of them are executives in the software and technology market, with long-standing relationships with ABES (some have already held the position of president in the past). Ricardo Caldas, CEO of Ativu Technologies, is the new vice president. In the regional vice presidencies, the election elected Flavia Brito as regional vice president for the Northeast; Jeovani Salomão, as regional vice president for the Central-West; and Marcia Lippert, as regional vice president for the South. As new statutory directors, Daniella Caverni, Flávia Brito and Francisco Camargo occupy, respectively, the positions of administrative director, secretary director and treasurer director for the next three years. Lauro de Lauro (Communication and Marketing), José Maurício (Assistance Fund for Software Companies and Complementary Services of Brazil – CAESBRA) and Vanda Scartezini (Internationalization and ICANN – Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) will take over as deputy directors.
On this occasion, the entity renewed its Deliberative Council. Paulo Milliet Roque and Rodolfo Fücher took over as president and vice-president of the Council, respectively. And, as counselors, Daniella Caverni, Jorge Sukarie Neto, Paulo Milliet Roque (last president of ABES), Carlos Sacco, Rodolfo Fücher, Francisco Camargo, Vanda Scartezini, Francisco Soeltl, Flávia Brito, Onivaldo Roncatti, Sergio Boacnin, Gerson Schmitt, José Bublitz Machado, Lauro de Lauro, Werter Padilha, Claudio Nastasi.
The priorities of the next administration
Repositioning the technology sector and boosting innovation in Brazil are central commitments of the new ABES board. “Brazil is a digital country, with a creative, connected population that is open to experimentation. With a diverse and competitive technology ecosystem, we have all the conditions to become one of the largest global powers in IT. ABES will work together with partner entities and the government to build effective public policies, foster innovation and position Brazil among the main global players in the sector,” says Andriei Gutierrez.
The new ABES management also reinforces its commitment to solid and competitive digital sovereignty. “We defend and will defend a pragmatic and strategic regulatory and geopolitical positioning that values the development of national technology, while promoting an open business environment that does not discriminate or impose barriers to foreign technology,” explains Andriei. The objective, according to the new president, is to foster a plural, modern digital ecosystem connected to the best global practices.
It is worth noting that, in recent years, ABES has undergone an accelerated process of growth and professionalization, expanding its portfolio of services, offering legal security and promoting the sustainable development of its member companies. “The new board will be committed to further expanding this impact, bringing value to companies in all regions of Brazil and strengthening the entity’s international presence, consolidating ABES as a reference in the global technology scenario”, concludes Andriei Gutierrez.
