The diagnosis, coordinated by Softex, counted 22 design houses

The Brazilian Agency for Industrial Development (ABDI) launched the study Assessment of Business Strategies of Integrated Circuits Companies of the CI-Brasil Program, which analyzes the current situation of Brazilian integrated circuits companies, evaluates the effectiveness of government actions for training and strategies and proposes new management models for the competitive insertion of companies in the international market. Softex (Association for the Promotion of Excellence in Brazilian Software) coordinated and executed the diagnosis.

According to the study, Brazil has 600 designers of integrated circuits in activities in the design houses. There's two foundries under implementation - one in Porto Alegre (RS) and another in Ribeirão das Neves (MG) - and two encapsulation and testing companies. The country also has two training centers, in Porto Alegre and Campinas (SP), for the training of about eighty designers per year. For the training, more than 600 scholarships are awarded and an estimated investment of approximately R$ 40 million per year.

At design houses in Brazil

It's 22 design houses (integrated circuit design companies) participating or partners in the CI-Brasil Program, coordinated by MCTI, including institutions with or without profit and subsidiary companies of multinationals, distributed throughout the national territory.

Through CI-Brazil, the Brazilian government has invested, since 2005, in training professionals for design activities, while encouraging the emergence of emerging companies to work with the support of science and technology institutes and universities . CI-Brasil is included in the Brasil Maior Program (PBM), the government's industrial policy.
