The evolution of mobile devices and the expansion of internet access through these devices, without a doubt, are enabling a new panorama for e-commerce in Brazil. Whether due to practicality, agility or even ease, smartphones and tablets have become indispensable tools in the daily lives of users, who have a new perception of these devices with regard to consumption.
With these factors in mind, it is essential that companies look at existing business possibilities and future scenarios, since it is certain that online purchases made by this "new generation" of consumers will reach a new level, in what it says with respect to sales, since the adhesion to mobile devices by Brazilians is expected to increase significantly.
These numbers can be extremely significant. A survey conducted recently by e-bit showed that Brazilian e-commerce achieved a nominal expansion of more than 15% in 2015, when compared to the previous year, reaching about R$ 41.3 billion in revenue. According to the same survey, the increase occurred mainly as a result of the growth in internet access, which, in turn, had as one of its main causes the increase in smartphone sales.
It is worth noting yet another important reference element: customer access has never been greater. Data from the Brazilian Telecommunications Association (Telebrasil) show that the number of accesses by Brazilians on mobile broadband, considering the internet via 3G and 4G, closed January 2016 at 193 million accesses, with an increase of 9.5% in relation to the same month of 2015.
Mobile users are, according to studies, four times more involved than those who browse the web and their expectations are also high regarding the experience of use. In addition, 67% of these users get engaged on their mobile devices and stay afterwards.
Research from reputable institutes, such as Gartner, already reveals that they have substantially increased the use of devices to buy, get information, access social media, apps, etc. Purchases made on mobile devices are expected to reach US$ 200 billion in 2017, almost three times the amount recorded in 2013 (US$ 70 billion worldwide). Another perspective of the market is the increase in the number of application downloads, which will have an expansion of 185% in the same period.
Within this positive panorama, it is essential to note that the success of the internet business in the future, both for online purchases and for putting new applications on the air, will depend on changes in procedures such as DevOps best practices, which indicate the integration of teams. Development and Operations so that the entire environment is optimized, agile and, above all, maintaining safety and quality.
