The sixth edition of the event brought reflections on the new directions of the digital certification market and the challenges of new technologies, such as artificial intelligence

Held this Tuesday, May 6, in the auditorium of the Regional Council of Engineering and Agronomy of the State of São Paulo (CREA-SP), in the capital of São Paulo, Encontr[AR], a traditional event of the Association of Registration Authorities of Brazil (AARB), has already established itself as one of the most anticipated in the digital certification market in the country.

More than 300 people gathered for a full day of lectures, discussions, reflections and lots of networking. Businesspeople from the sector had their questions answered by experts and learned about the main points of some of the agendas deliberated by the Brazilian Public Key Infrastructure Steering Committee (CG ICP-Brasil), such as the new audit criteria and the modernization of ICP-Brasil.

Opening ceremony

The opening panel was composed of the CEO of AARB, Jorge Prates; the CEO of the National Institute of Information Technology (ITI), Enylson Camolesi; the president of the Deliberative Council of the Brazilian Association of Software Companies (ABES), Paulo Milliet Roque; the president of the National Association of Digital Certification Authorities (ANCert), Renan Vinícius de Souza; and the president of the Executive Board of the National Association of Digital Certification (ANCD), Daniel Fabre Afonso.

In his speech, Prates recalled the consolidation of Encontr[AR] as the main event in the country aimed at ICP-Brasil Registration Authorities and the importance of the partnership of companies and entities that sponsored and supported its implementation.

“I would like to thank our sponsors who are always with us, because without you it would not be possible to hold this meeting, as well as the companies that sponsored previous editions. I would also like to mention the associations present here, which have an important role in the development of digital certification at the national level. On behalf of all the members, I would also like to thank ITI, so that we can maintain this path of open dialogue, especially with constant encouragement, self-regulation and the debate of important issues for our segment,” he said.

The president of the ABES Deliberative Council recalled the partnership with AARB, where members can participate in a series of benefits, such as training in artificial intelligence. “Everyone who is a member, when registering, can say that they belong to AARB. It is not only for the owners of the Registration Authorities, but also for their employees. We have training on LGPD, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and several other courses, all taught by very good professionals in the area”, said Paulo Roque. On the occasion, Paulo handed out copies of the entity's Think Tank's most recent book to the authorities present.

“It is a pleasure to be here. The sector is going through a very sensitive time, where we are seeing a series of demands and the responsibility of associations in this scenario is increasing. Therefore, ANCert is always at the disposal of AARB and other entities so that we can promote the best possible dialogue”, said Renan Vinícius.

Daniel Fabre congratulated the venue chosen to hold Encontr[AR] and the union of entities in discussing market changes. “It is a great pleasure to be here representing our entity. This event is already marked on the agenda as the main one in the sector. There is no way we can discuss digital certification in Brazil without the gathering of all entities that are part of our hierarchy of trust.”

In his speech, which kicked off the first lecture of the day, the ITI CEO emphasized the role of Registration Authorities in building the link of trust between ICP-Brasil. “A poorly executed identity document, a poorly produced certificate, can have very serious consequences. If the registration agent, who issues certificates, does not do so in a very secure manner, following all the necessary procedures, if we do not have well-trained teams on the front line, we are opening a gap in this security chain. That is why you are so important,” emphasized Enylson Camolesi.

The director then explained the infrastructure and updated figures of ICP-Brasil and the modernizing agendas that have been implemented and discussed between the government, civil society and the market.

Speeches

In the afternoon, the executive director of ANCD, Edmar Araújo, presented the most important points of the modernization of ICP-Brasil. The Legal and Compliance Director of AARB, Gisele Strey, answered questions from businesspeople about the responsibilities of Registration Authorities.

In the last lecture, Michel Medeiros, from CertClube, addressed strategic and commercial topics, in addition to presenting the first Executive Education school created especially for Digital Certification entrepreneurs.
