An initiative of the Office of the Comptroller General of the Union (CGU), the Pact is a public commitment to integrity throughout the business cycle. CLM is among the 160 Brazilian companies that are part of the program.
CLM, Latin American value-added distributor, focused on information security, data protection, cloud and data center infrastructure, joins the Brazil Pact for Business Integrity, an initiative by the Office of the Comptroller General of the Union (CGU) that encourages companies operating in the country to voluntarily make a public commitment to corporate integrity. The company is among the 160 organizations that have taken part in the program so far.
According to Dr. Carolina Marzano, a member of the CLM Board and responsible for the Integrity and Compliance area, it is automatic to attribute to the government the exclusive responsibility for combating corruption. However, the private sector and individuals are fundamental actors in this fight. Only the joint efforts of government, companies and society can promote the necessary structural transformations in order to reduce the social, economic and political impacts caused by this evil called corruption.
“Joining the Brazil Pact for Business Integrity is a public commitment by companies regarding their role and importance in this context. One of the main pillars of CLM Group is ethics, morality and legality, represented by our integrity program, which already has the “A CORRUPTION FIGHTER ETHICAL COMPANY” (ABES) and CERTIGOV certifications, and now receives the “Seal of Adherence to the Brazil Pact for Business Integrity”, says Carolina.
The CGU explains that Business Integrity constitutes a guiding element, capable of stimulating the formation of a organizational culture that combats corruption systematically, firmly and constantly, and that promotes issues of special importance to society, such as environmental preservation and respect for human and labor rights.
“To this end, it presupposes adherence to the legal system, risk analysis, and an understanding of values and principles that guide honest and responsible conduct. (…) It is not enough to not corrupt, it is necessary to promote integrity and ethics. It is not enough to not pollute, it is necessary to promote environmental preservation. It is not enough to not exclude, it is necessary to promote inclusion.”
All companies with headquarters, branches or representation in Brazilian territory, regardless of size or sector of activity, as well as other private entities capable of implementing integrity measures, can join the Pact, which has the support of the Council for Sustainable Social Economic Development – CDESS of the Presidency of the Republic.
Joining the Brazil Pact for Business Integrity allows:
- promote image gains, increasing corporate reputation, in view of the transparency that will be given to adherence to the Pact;
- demonstrate the commitment of the company's senior management to the systematic pursuit of integrity standards;
- minimize the likelihood of fraud and corruption occurring and reduce the impact of such events if they occur;
- enable easier and lower-cost access to capital;
- increase commercial opportunities with partners (investors and employees) who share the same values;
- attract and retain employees who value ethics and integrity.
“The objective of this membership, as well as other initiatives of the group, is to reinforce, improve and consolidate the company's commitment to ethics, probity and responsibility with ESG, from management to actions in the social, environmental and human spheres,” explains Francisco Camargo, CEO of CLM.
