The partnership begins in Cajamar (São Paulo) and São João de Meriti (Rio de Janeiro), where the program will benefit approximately 280 young people

The PROA Institute announced on Tuesday (28/05) the development of an initiative with Amazon Brasil that will train and promote the entry of young people from socially vulnerable situations into the job market. With financial support from Amazon, the Institute will offer a course that lasts three months and can be taken online at no cost. Upon completion of the course, students will be nominated for job opportunities.

Initially, the initiative will focus on the cities of Cajamar (São Paulo) and São João de Meriti (Rio de Janeiro), where the program will benefit approximately 280 young people. Program participants are between 17 and 22 years old, and are studying or have completed the third year of high school in public schools.

“Our work is focused on training these young people for the job market, we know how much they suffer from the lack of professional qualifications and how much this affects their search for their first job. We are offering real qualifications and opportunities. This is our commitment. Having a company like Amazon supporting our initiative further amplifies PROA's work and generates real transformation in communities and their surroundings”, says Alini Dal'Magro, CEO of Instituto PROA.

For Amazon, the initiative is an important step for the company to continue advancing in its mission of being the best employer in the world and continuing to positively impact the communities where it operates and its employees live. In Brazil, Amazon currently employs more than 18 thousand people directly and indirectly, and has boosted more than 165 thousand external jobs in sectors such as civil construction for roles in logistics and other professional services.

“We are very pleased to support Instituto PROA and help prepare Brazilian youth for job opportunities across the country. In all the communities in which we operate, we strive not only to be a large employer, but also a company attentive to the community in which it operates and that means investing in local initiatives like this”, said Juliana Sá, Social Impact leader at Amazon Brazil.

With four distinct modules, the course offers young people different perspectives on a professional career, with classes ranging from logical reasoning to self-knowledge, communication and construction of a professional project. The 100 hours of content are divided into weekly online classes, in addition to remote meetings with tutors.

In addition, young people can choose to take an extra module with a technical track that best suits the professional path they wish to follow. There are eight careers to choose from, with 50 hours of preparation for each: Retail, Administration, Logistics, UX Design, Excel and Power BI, Brand Promotion, Financial Education, and Customer Service.

At the end of the course, participants receive a certificate of completion offered by Instituto PROA and access to PROA Jobs, an exclusive job vacancy platform from the Institute itself. In addition, PROA monitors the professional life and employability of young people for another 3 years.
