The academic universe is the source of many innovations in the most diverse areas. Today, the ABES Portal will tell the story of GestorPsi, a system created by Oliver Prado, psychologist and director of the INSTITUTO DE PSICOLOGIA BEHAVIOR – a software that was born from his experience in the professional and academic environment.
GestorPSI is a software that helps professionals in the mental health area in the management of their patients, which brings together several functionalities. It offers a diary, recording patient information (electronic medical records), as well as monitoring their evolution, billing control, issuing documents and providing patient follow-up reports.
“The main differential of GestorPsi is that it was developed to be an instrument for Psychology, having the commercial business as a result of this. For this reason, a lot of time and effort was invested in creating the conceptual design of the system, in order to meet the business model of services in this field of Psychology.”, explains Prof. Oliver.
With GestorPSI, psychologists can have greater control over the cases being treated and their clinic, thus ensuring better care for their patients and management of their businesses.

Why did the INSTITUTE OF BEHAVIORAL PSYCHOLOGY develop the GestorPSI? How was this process?
In 2003, after completing my master's degree in clinical psychology on internet therapy, I started working at the university as a supervisor. I noticed that there was no management system available on the market, only medical software that did not meet the psychology business model.
During my master's degree, I had adapted a distance learning system to do therapy over the Internet and managed to manage dozens of psychotherapies. Based on this conceptual model, I submitted a project to PIPE/FAPESP, aimed at innovation projects for small companies, which was approved.
At that time, a service management system and electronic medical records for psychology was something distant. Development was carried out until mid-2010, when the system began to be used in a production environment. However, in addition to the intrinsic challenges of software development, I believe that the field of psychology has always lagged behind in terms of technology and management. Therefore, it was not so easy to put the system to use in practice.
What are the differentials of GestorPSI? How does this system facilitate patient care and the professional's work?
It is a service-based system and therefore can fit into any psychology organization, whether individual or collective. Furthermore, it can be easily adapted to organizations with other professionals.
The greatest facility is having all the organization's management in the system. Thus, it is possible both to manage the services and also to audit what is happening in the organization. It is important to establish GestorPsi as a management system, which is different from other types of platforms, which can be used only for service or for marketing and dissemination. With GestorPsi it is possible to manage the work, whether in person or online.
What are your main customers?
Our main clients are universities, such as PUC-SP, and some large psychology clinics, which have clinical staff with dozens of professionals.
Universities, with their teaching clinics, provide services along with training. However, the management products offered to universities do not meet this business model. GestorPsi, in turn, was developed to also contemplate this type of environment. But, we still have many segments in the health area that we can explore.
We understand that our market is not restricted to psychology courses, but also encompasses all other courses in the area of health and, eventually, social assistance. We believe that this is a market with a lot of potential and that it also opens doors for the research area, being able to offer a product that can support the management of research on services in the health area.
What are the goals for 2023?
The main goal for 2023 is to find partners to run the project's commercial area. Our focus is to focus on user support and software development and maintenance. The commercial and marketing part of the project is not our area of specialization and, therefore, we are looking for companies that operate in close sectors for partnerships.
GestorPsi is a software that can be considered mature, but there are many features that can be developed. The market is demanding systems to support management and, after the pandemic. this type of demand has increased.
