MCTI - Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovations, in partnership with Centro Universitário Facens, opened last Friday (30th), the IoT and Technologies 4.0 FACENS-MCTI Reference Center, in Sorocaba (SP). The objective of the initiative is to create a place for practical demonstration of IoT (Internet of Things) solutions in areas defined by the Ministry as priorities in the National Internet of Things Plan, such as Cities 4.0, Health 4.0, Agro 4.0, Industry 4.0, Tourism 4.0 and Education 4.0.
The project is part of the Technical Cooperation Agreement for digital innovation signed during the inauguration between Sorocaba Technology Park, Facens and MCTI. The idea is that the center offers programs for the promotion of teaching, training, popularization and dissemination of science and technology in the country, promoting innovative teaching, entrepreneurship and the development of local demands, with the engagement of industry, academia and government.
The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovations, astronaut Marcos Pontes, highlighted the importance of uniting efforts between the government, parliament, academia and other institutions for the success of public policies.
“In such a difficult time for the whole world, we see the importance of unity, of everyone working together for us to be successful. In our country, this is extremely important. More and more people see the need to work together. I would like to congratulate everyone who has worked with us, to thank the possibility of together making the country's star shine for the future, for the next generations ”, he said.
Federal deputy Vitor Lippi (PSDB / SP) stressed the importance of investments in science and technology becoming new solutions and jobs. “We have here in this partnership between Facens and the ministry what we understand is the best way to bring results through science, technology and innovations, the triple helix, government, research centers and industry. This makes the public resources that go to science and technology generate solutions for society, wealth and jobs that we need so much ”.
According to the Mayor of Sorocaba (SP), Rodrigo Manga, bringing technologies to improve the development of the city and quality of life of the population is one of the objectives of management. “When we went to this challenge of taking care of a city as important as Sorocaba, we knew that we needed to provide the population with adequate care in terms of education, health and the development of our industry. There would be no way to do this without bringing the technology into the city hall and our city. Participating in this event is in line with what you plan for our city ”.
The Reference Center will be integrated with Smart Campus Facens, which is a laboratory aimed at solving real problems, connecting the academic community, the market, companies and society, through projects that make cities more humane, intelligent and sustainable.
