Brazilian and Arab League companies, comprising 22 countries, will benefit from the new solution, designed to enable safer and more transparent transactions
The Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (CCAB) - an organization that has been operating for more than 68 years with the purpose of connecting Brazilian and Arab companies - announces the implementation of the IBM Blockchain Platform running on IBM Cloud to digitize, accelerate and bring more security to processes between Brazil and the 22 countries of the Arab League and, thus, continue to help in the economic, social and cultural development of the bilateral relationship. The project is part of the Ellos system, a platform developed by CCAB to support its associates and partners.
The adoption of technologies that enable digital transformation is key to several business models. According to the recent IBV COVID C-Suite Study, 64% of executives worldwide recognize a shift to more cloud-based business due to pandemic . At the same time, IDC expects blockchain spending in Latin America to be USD 200 million by 2023.
According to the secretary general at the Arab Brazilian Chamber, Tamer Mansour, the platform is going to integrate data from the entire export chain to the Arab countries. In a pilot phase, the project will be implemented in trade flows involving Brazil and Jordan, a country that is making a great effort in government digitization and seeks to reposition itself as a hub of access to the region for other countries. “We have a business based on relationships and trust. Providing a better experience and services with excellence to facilitate the operations of our customers is paramount. IBM brought us a methodology and the necessary technologies to take a step further in operations, with agility to make innovation happen ”, comments Tamer.
The solution also includes the development of an application based on IBM Blockchain, offering users of CCAB services more agility, practicality and transparency to export processes, meeting the quality and compliance requirements of the different import and export legislation in force in each country. The solution will allow at the same time more flexibility, stability, scalability and security for the dispatch of loads.
CCAB also migrated its IT environment, which until then was all on premise, to the IBM Cloud, which brought more agility to the development of new applications and enabled improvements in maintenance, costs and efforts of the teams, which faced daily challenges because of legacy and complex systems.
For Joaquim Campos, VP of Cloud and Cognitive at IBM Brazil, the agreement with the CCAB brings pride and shows that the organization is advancing in its digital transformation process. “We were able to consolidate a very strong and close partnership with CCAB professionals and reinforce IBM as a reliable technology partner, capable of supporting challenges in a complete way, from the modernization of Cloud infrastructure to the development of applications involving Blockchain, Microservices and DevOps ”, said the executive.
CCAB saw the potential of these technologies to implement in its service a digitalized and fast process for agents of bilateral trade between Brazil and the Arab countries. As a result, organizations involved in import or export processes are now more agile about operations in an innovative movement that strengthens the foreign trade ecosystem.
The entire project was carried out by IBM Garage, using the methodology that promotes the development and implementation of ideas together with the client to accelerate the CCAB digital transformation process.
