Softex is launching the study “The Panorama of Open Innovation in Companies in Brazil” which involved 63 organizations of all sizes, markets and regions of the country. It is important to highlight the significant participation of large companies, which represented 42.9% of the interviewees. The micro, small and medium companies accounted for 19% each. Regarding the profile of the respondents, 41.3% are executives (C-level), 23.8% are managers or coordinators in the innovation area, 15.9% are analysts or innovation assistants and 9.5% are analysts, coordinators or managers of other areas .
With the target audience professionals who work with innovation, especially managers in strategic positions, as well as those who work in the innovation ecosystem in general – startups, universities, support entities, government, accelerators, research centers and entrepreneurial communities – its objective he was map the general panorama of actions and results obtained with open innovation in Brazilian organizations.
According to the study, startups (67%) are the main profile of partners in open innovation actions. Among the respondents, 88% already develop actions of open innovation, 76% have been investing in innovation with their own resources, 62.5% have an intrapreneurship program. A growing participation and engagement of top leadership in the strategy was also identified (89.3%). The survey also found that the development of proofs of concept is the main relationship model in open innovation with startups for 91.9% of the participants.
“We know how important it is to generate qualified information on this topic. Based on the learning obtained and shared, we were able to establish strategies and operating designs aimed at open innovation in a more tangible and targeted way to better support companies, startups and ICTs”, explains Rayanny Nunes, innovation leader at Softex.
She points out that the study contextualizes the scenario in Brazil and in the world, its relationship in the structure of organizations and also the economic and social context caused by the COVID-19 pandemic so that it is possible to understand – in a multidimensional way – how innovation Open marketing has been practiced by companies from different regions, sizes and segments.
The survey also addresses six trends identified as the main ones for open innovation in the country in the coming years: the maturation of the corporate venture capital, the adoption of the merger and acquisition strategy to leverage business, the corporate venture building as an alternative for designing new businesses, greater participation in innovation hubs, betting on joint ventures and in other types of collaboration between large organizations; and adoption of internal governance processes and compliance to drive open innovation.
