Of the respondents, 94% considers data culture a crucial factor in the digital transformation process in their companies

In Brazil, 60% of companies already use Data & Analytics to guide strategies and necessary changes in the business. New product development, risk management, workforce analysis and cost efficiency improvement stand out as the top five uses of these technologies in the Brazilian market. The data were drawn from the Global State of Enterprise Analytics 2019 survey¸, an initiative by MicroStrategy in partnership with global research consultancy Hall & Partners, which seeks to provide a global, cross-industry overview of the current state and future use of enterprise data and analytics. For the second consecutive year, nearly 500 professionals from around the world were interviewed who make strategic decisions based on business intelligence and analytics technologies. Participants were asked about the benefits, challenges, investments and priorities – and most importantly, they were asked to assess whether their initiatives are making progress towards enabling the adoption of a data-driven culture in their companies.

According to the survey, 2020 is expected to mark the beginning of a new era for Data & Analytics, with great promises of innovation and the promotion of intuitive experiences that will finally help make companies smarter. Both in Brazil and globally, the conviction of the enormous relevance of data and analytics solutions in the digital transformation process is unanimous: 94% of respondents consider them to be crucial components in their strategies and efforts towards digital transformation.

Here, those who participated in the survey are quite confident with their level of maturity in the use of Data & Analytics. Almost a third (32%) of Brazilians surveyed rank ahead of their peers when it comes to data-driven decision making – the global average is 26%. Another interesting point is that, contrary to the global scenario in which Cloud Computing is the top trend among those that most impact the adoption of Analytics, in Brazil, this technology is only the third among the three most cited (17%) , preceded by Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (17%) and Internet of Things (18%).

Regarding the barriers and fears that prevent adherence to Data & Analytics, privacy and data security (52%) appear first. Aspects such as: limited access to data and analysis across the organization (28%) and the fact that the tools are not intuitive (27%) are also mentioned. According to the respondents, there are three main points that could favor the implementation: incorporation of Data & Analytics into tools such as email, SharePoint, web browser (52%) and the most popular commercial applications, such as Salesforce, Slack (50%); in addition to the availability of more intuitive and convenient tools or training (49%).

Other Highlights Revealed About Using Data & Analytics Globally

The Data & Analytics study finds that as this new innovation-driven decade approaches, a smaller percentage of leaders feel confident about the progress of their strategies. With digital disruption surprising and even causing major brands to go extinct, organizations are being warned that this is the time for change. And for that, new insights will be needed that enable them to advance further and further. While some of these companies have chosen to tighten the "pause" and digital transformation of their businesses, others are already in the direction of promoting these changes from 2020, a scenario that will require experiences and answers based on information, in real time. Most organizations, however, fall somewhere in between.
