Unselected projects can participate in OpenPitch at each regional stage

With the objective of highlighting the 100 best national startups of 2015, the 100 Open Startups Movement, which has the institutional support of ABES, started the stages of presentation of the selected projects, which registered solutions in the following areas: Innovative Cities, Education of the Future, Health & Well-being, Industry of the Future, Information Society, Electric Energy, Agribusiness, Wearables, Oil & Gas, MSEs and Open Challenge. The movement's differential is to promote approximation and dialogue between large companies, investment funds and startups, stimulating and developing the open innovation ecosystem in the country.

“We received about 1500 proposals and selected 183 of them that will undergo face-to-face evaluations at the events we are holding in the main Brazilian innovation capitals”, highlights Bruno Rondani, organizer of the 100 Open Startups movement and founder of Allagi Open Innovation Services, a business management consultancy . The stages of Manaus (AM) and Campinas (SP) have already been carried out and the next ones will take place in Brasília (11/18); Recife (20/11); São José dos Campos (21/11); Rio de Janeiro (11/21); Florianopolis (11/25); São Paulo (26/11); Belo Horizonte (11/27); and Curitiba (07/12).

OpenPitch – Even those who haven't had their project selected still have a chance to show it to large companies and investors. The schedule of each stage has the OpenPitch moment, in which the entrepreneur has 1 minute to “sell” his concept and be selected to be part of the day's schedule. “It's a way of valuing the resilient entrepreneur, who doesn't give up on showing his idea and finding the support he needs”, completes Rondani.

Open Innovation – In an interview with the ABES Portal, Rondani said that he was surprised by the interest of startups in establishing partnerships with large companies, in order to identify opportunities for collaboration and attracting investments. He gave as an example of this maturation the region of Campinas, whose event had 20 good startups in 2015, while in 2014 only 10 were selected.

“Abroad, it is already very common for companies to launch investment funds that bet on projects and competent people who are outside the walls of organizations, but who can add value and offer innovation for products, processes and services. In Brazil, this dynamic is just beginning”, concludes Rondani. Among the more than 50 companies supporting the 100 Open Startups Movement are: 3M, Abbott, AES, Algar Telecom, Natura, IBM, HP, Intel, LIBBS, FGV, Cemig, Ourofino Saúde Animal and Embraer.

The startups that best meet the expectations of the organizers and judges of the regional stages, whose final list should be released on December 12th, will participate in the 7th Open Innovation Week, one of the main open innovation events in the country, which takes place between the 23rd and February 25, 2016, in São Paulo.
