Study details characteristics of the Israeli market and signals new business opportunities for companies participating in the Brasil IT+ Sector Project

Israel is the target market of the most recent Market Guide, produced by Softex with the objective of identifying and presenting to the companies participating in the Brasil IT+ Sectorial Project – carried out by the entity in partnership with Apex-Brasil – the various possibilities of international investments.

One of Israel's highlights is its global positioning in innovation, exceeding expectations with its startups attracting more and more investments and registering significant commercial success. In the period from 2020 to 2021, the capital raised by Israeli startups more than quadrupled to U$ 11.5 billion in 2020, while the average round for startups grew 10% in 2020 compared to the previous year.

Another important feature of the Israeli market is the significant investments made in the areas of R&D in the 1980s, which resulted in the formation of a highly qualified workforce, especially in the areas of science and engineering.

In technological terms, the country has a global leadership that attracts around 15% of the world's venture capital investments in cybersecurity, ranking, according to United Nations data (2015), tenth in the world in R&D quality. Government efforts focused on Information Technology, more specifically on biotechnology, nanotechnology and environmental technologies, and Israel continues to maintain its strength in the area of cutting-edge military technology.

The country is considered the “land of unicorns” for having spawned some of the world's top successful startups, including Waze, Mobileye, Infinidat, Iron Source, Gett and OrCam Technologies.

The study also presents the “International Collaboration Division-Americas Operations”, part of the “Israel Innovation Authority”, which aims to initiate and develop partnerships with Latin American governments, as well as with stakeholders in the private sector.

One of the chapters of Market Guide Israel presents cases of cooperation that are part of the R&D Collaboration Program between Brazil and Israel, approved in partnerships between startups from both countries in January 2020:

  • Pelemix Ltd. (Israel) and Brasil Ambiental (Brazil): development of a substrate to increase agricultural yield in Brazil;
  • Brenmiller Energy Ltd. (Israel) and Brazilian Fortlev Energia Solar Ltd.: cooperation in the field of thermal energy;
  • Metrycom Communication Ltd. (Israel) and Energisa Soluções SA (Brazil): cooperation to implement smart, wireless, low-cost sensors for monitoring large rural energy distribution networks;
  • GreenRoad Driving Technologies Ltd. (Israel) and Energisa Soluções SA: cooperation in the field of driving analysis and fleet efficiency.

These are some examples of how the Research and Development agreement between Brazilian and Israeli companies and research centers is strengthening economic cooperation between both countries through the application of advanced technology.

In its conclusion, the Market Guide emphasizes that Israel is one of the leaders in the area of innovation, and can serve as an example of tripartite cooperation (Government, academia and companies), exactly the work model developed by Softex, generating opportunities for the exchange of technologies and research.
