To contribute to the advancement of a public policy agenda for digital transformation and innovation in Brazil, ABES launches the THINK TANK ABES – Center for Intelligence, Public Policy and Innovation, which was born with the mission of bringing together a team of qualified researchers, who will be invited to reflect on trends, study, debate and propose solutions for the country's main challenges, bearing in mind that new technologies are vectors of profound transformations. The team of directors, advisers and leaders of the ABES committees will also be engaged in the initiatives of this center.

In light of this mission,THINK TANK ABES aims to promote the generation of knowledge based on research, capable of contributing to the advancement of a public policy and innovation agenda in Brazil, with a focus on building a Digital and Less Unequal Brazil. We hope to position ourselves as one of the main centers of debate on important topics for the country, contributing to the development of the technological sector and society as a whole.o”, highlights Paulo Milliet Roque, President of the entity.

Knowledge and public policies

THINK TANK ABES will carry out the production and dissemination of knowledge through the publication of studies, articles, e-books, among other materials. Another important aspect of the strategy is the participation of our members in events, interviews, public hearings and meetings with stakeholders.”, highlights Jamile Sabatini Marques, Director of Innovation and Development at ABES. In addition, the center will encourage dialogue between the various actors involved in the science and innovation agenda, in order to promote positive changes for the Brazilian ecosystem.

In this way, ABES strengthens its position as a national reference in the direct interlocution with several government agencies that act in the formulation of public policies in the municipal, state and, mainly, federal spheres; with Academia, Institutes of Science and Technology and civil society – aligned with the quadruple helix model and the development of collaborative networks.

Notice of the 2023 Fellowship Program

THINK TANK ABES begins its activities with the launch of the first public call for proposals for the 2023 Fellowship Program, which will be conducted in partnership with the Institute of Advanced Studies of the University of São Paulo (IEA-USP).

The public notice aims to select doctoral and post-doctoral students and other researchers with a complete doctorate linked to a teaching institution, national or foreign, with the objective of increasing the level of scientific and technological excellence in the areas of interest of the Center. Two researchers will be selected for each of the topics listed below:

  • Research Theme I: Digital Platforms
  • Research Theme II: Artificial Intelligence
  • Research Theme III: Future of Work
  • Research Theme IV: Digital Government and Open Government

 

The application can be sent until March 18, 2023. The result will be announced on March 27, 2023.
