Rodolfo Fücher, president of the ABES Board, represented the Association and mediated the panel “Digital Security as a pillar of social and economic development”

ABES – Brazilian Association of Software Companies participated in the Cybersecurity debate: opportunities and challenges for the digital society and economy, held by JOTA with the support of Microsoft and the organization of ABES and the Information Technology Industry Council (ITI). Specialists discussed the opportunities and challenges for the digital society and economy in the field of cybersecurity in three panels, with Rodolfo Fücher, Chairman of the ABES Board, mediating the panel “Digital Security as a pillar of social and economic development”.

Cybersecurity has gained relevance in recent times due to the massive exploitation of information and incidents of data leaks that have occurred in large companies. At the same time that more data is shared across networks, increasing the risks of information leakage, serious incidents of security breaches involving the public sector and companies have come to light. The warning signal about the unpreparedness to ensure cyber security lit up, triggering the need for joint efforts to address the problem. And, currently, the situation is one of widespread distrust, in the face of leaks of documents, coups involving PIX and attacks on government bases. This notion reflects the problems faced in recent years and, to be reversed, requires more information on the subject.

For Rodolfo Fücher, the future tends to be much more challenging than the current moment. “When we start thinking about the future, if today we have problems with cyber attacks, imagine when 5G starts to take effect. Today, IDC points out that we have 70 Zettabytes of information being produced, and the forecast for 2025 is to reach 170 Zettabytes of information circulating. Imagine the amount of data out there, the need to access this data, the use of cloud computing, Artificial Intelligence being used with increasing intensity. Everything is connected, nothing else is isolated. And, more important than information security, is risk mitigation, and what we need to keep in mind are what actions we can take to overcome these challenges in a future that tends to be very challenging”, he said.

The panel “Digital Security as a pillar of social and economic development”, mediated by Rodolfo Fücher, had the participation of Ronan Damasco, executive director of technology at Microsoft in Brazil, Louise Marie Hurel (Coordinator of the Digital Security Program at Instituto Igarapé ), Arthur Pereira Sabbat (Director of the ANPD), Thiago Camargo Lopes (Director of Technology at Prospectiva), and Tatiana Ribeiro, executive director of Movimento Brasil Corporativo, To watch this and the other panels of the event, access the video on Casa JOTA's YouTube channel.
