The DPU (Public Defender's Office of the Union) has adopted cloud solutions from Huawei Cloud, a leading global reference in cloud computing and artificial intelligence solutions, to transform its operations, making them more efficient and secure. With the agency present in 70 states, distributed across 26 states and 43 municipalities, in addition to the Federal District, the optimization has a positive impact on access to justice for low-income citizens.

Before adopting cloud technology, the DPU infrastructure depended on a physical data center that centralized all the units' demands. Whenever there was a need to access services and applications, it was necessary to use the institution's internal environment.

With the migration to the cloud, carried out in a record time of 45 days, the Public Defender's Office began to operate in a more agile and accessible technological environment, especially for defenders who work in itinerant guardianships, who can now access services from anywhere in Brazil with quality and high availability.

Today, approximately 90% of DPU workloads are processed on Huawei Cloud technology infrastructure, resulting in reduced costs, higher system availability, and improved application performance. The migration has also resulted in advances in data protection, with a greater focus on security and encryption, ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of information.

With its current structure, the Federal Public Defender’s Office operates in a multi-cloud environment, which provides superior flexibility and connectivity for its users. This configuration allows defenders to meet the demands of the population more efficiently and securely. The agility in creating new environments and centralized control provide a holistic view of workloads, increasing the performance of certain applications while using fewer resources compared to the previous on-premise environment.
