São Paulo, December 4, 2020 - In recent years, Brazil has experienced a movement to fight corruption and establish more ethics and transparency in the relationships that companies have with their employees, customers, suppliers, public agencies and other organizations. In view of this scenario and as one of the main entities in the information technology sector, ABES - Brazilian Association of Software Companies encourages member companies to put business ethics into practice through the Uma Empresa Ética program and announces Brasoftware and CLM as the first companies to receive this certificate.
The program encourages and offers members free of charge the means to implement the three essential pillars of a policy of integrity and compliance with the legal framework: the development and implementation of a code of ethics; compliance training for employees and the adoption of an independent reporting channel.
“Now, ABES is taking an important new step in this initiative, with the launch of the An Ethical Company certificate, which will be given to the corporations that officially joined the program and promote all three pillars. The document will be valid for 12 months, period counted from the date of issue, when the associate will need to prove that the pillars are being respected and are part of the company's day-to-day ”, explains Carolina Marzano, Compliance Officer and Committee Coordinator at ABES.
According to Jorge Sukarie, president of Brasoftware and vice president of the board of ABES, transparency in business and relations between companies has become fundamental to the success of any business. “Brasoftware has had its Compliance Program in place for more than 5 years and it is an honor to have the opportunity to be the first associated company to be certified with the new ABES seal. We know that this program is an ongoing process, and we are committed by senior management to guarantee our employees, customers and suppliers, that the company takes all measures to ensure transparency, ethics and compliance in the business ”, he adds.
In addition to making it possible to close contracts and mitigate possible penalties, the culture of ethics and integrity must be implemented in a company out of respect for the laws, fair competition and a suitable business environment. Corporations committed to the dissemination and fulfillment of their values are increasingly recognized by the market and by consumers.
“Ethics has become an essential value in modern societies. It is the foundation on which societies on which trust is high are based. Ethics, trust, are values that we cannot measure economically, but when we are in countries where trust is high, we immediately recognize its value. We are very happy to receive the certificate An Ethical Company and to be able to disseminate this culture with all CLM employees and customers ”, points out Francisco Camargo, president of CLM and chairman of the ABES Board.
Support for members is provided by the association's legal department and compliance officer, who answers questions and promotes periodic training. All information and means for joining the program are available on the website https://www.umaempresaetica.com.br, which underwent a recent content update and visual modernization.
The An Ethical Company initiative will also be available for startups participating in the ABES Startup Internship program, which aims to strengthen entrepreneurship in Brazil, offering access to ABES services at no cost for 6 months.
