– In just five months, the Tiradentes Group modernized its infrastructure, combining operational efficiency with cost reduction

– The institution also promoted innovation with initiatives such as the AWS Academy, which focuses on promoting new educational opportunities

Tiradentes Group, one of the main educational groups in the Northeast, took a decisive step in its digital transformation journey by migrating its technological infrastructure to the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud, with the strategic support of SoftwareOne, a global provider and leader in end-to-end solutions for software and cloud technology. The project, completed in just five months, resulted in a safer, more scalable and innovative operation, positioning the group at the forefront of digital education in Brazil.

With 62 years of history, the Tiradentes Group has always stood out for its technological pioneering, being one of the first institutions to offer online enrollment and to develop its own educational management software. It has become recognized as a global reference university for providing educational resources in digital format, inaugurated the first Innovation Center focused on Education in the Northeast – Tiradentes Innovation Center – and, recently, sought to renew its technological infrastructure, including a physical data center.

Thus, the choice of AWS and SoftwareOne was driven by three key factors: technical security, support, and differentials added to the project. In addition to the migration to the cloud, the companies presented a proposal that included strategic benefits for the Tiradentes University and University Center (UNIT), such as offering AWS Academy courses, which train students and teachers with free certifications in AWS technology, and the implementation of an Alexa lab at the Tiradentes Innovation Center, boosting the institution's innovation ecosystem.

“By conducting a detailed assessment of our infrastructure before the project began, SoftwareOne and AWS demonstrated technical security, in addition to other advantages added to the project, that we did not have with our competitors. Furthermore, the exceptional relationship and delivery capacity exceeded all of our expectations,” comments Fábio Santos, IT Director of Grupo Tiradentes.

After completing the migration to AWS, Unit achieved a modern and scalable infrastructure, with greater operational efficiency, cost reduction and the creation of new educational and technological opportunities. The partnership with SoftwareOne was also essential to the success of the project, which included not only the migration, but also the implementation of managed services to ensure the continued sustainability of the cloud environment, including monitoring, licensing, governance, compliance and cost management.

“Much more than technology, our focus is to be with the client throughout their journey, mainly to modernize their environment and develop new projects, and it is this added value that we are delivering to the Tiradentes Group”, highlights Cleyton Leal, Application Services Leader at SoftwareOne.

Among the project's distinguishing features, the technological transformation of the Tiradentes Innovation Center and the promotion of Alexathon – a hackathon in which students developed skills for Alexa – are examples of the positive impact of digital transformation at Unit.

Expansion

With the success of the project, the organizations are already planning new initiatives, such as the Deep Racer, a competition of autonomous cars that promises to further engage the academic community in the transfer of knowledge in a gamified way.

In addition, the focus is to continue supporting Unit in extracting the best benefits from operating 100% in the cloud. “From now on, we will support Grupo Tiradentes in the process of modernization, optimization and, most importantly, in the governance process, in order to increasingly promote the cloud culture within the internal team and reap more advantages for the business”, highlights Paulo Cunha, Director for the Public Sector of AWS in Brazil.

In this post-migration process, the organizations will also work on developing new solutions, such as generative AI, which tends to be a great ally for the education sector on several fronts, such as student accessibility, assessments and school dropout. “The goal is to explore new ways of integrating technology and education, ensuring that Unit remains ahead in an increasingly competitive and digital educational scenario”, concludes the IT Director of Grupo Tiradentes.
