With the creation of a business unit dedicated to issues addressed by United States (US) federal agencies, the Trend Micro, a world leader in cybersecurity solutions, solidifies itself as the ideal security partner. Backed by significant investments and hiring of experts, Trend Micro expands its mission to collaborate with government agencies, protecting data as the migration to the cloud increases.

Located in Washington (DC), the business unit aims to ensure digital transformation, manage cyber risks, implement the concept Zero Trust and cloud migrations, meeting the unique requirements of US federal entities.

Customers, including the hundreds of government organizations around the world, benefit from the work of the carefully selected group of experts in government cybersecurity. Among them are former federal digital security executives, technical support specialists and cyber threat researchers such as:

– David Chow, director of Technology Strategy and former CIO and CISO of the US federal government, with decades of experience at the heart of government;

– Ed Cabrera, Director of Cybersecurity and former CISO of the United States Secret Service, with experience in managing cybersecurity strategy and alignments between government departments;

– Chris Radosh, vice president and general manager of the Business Unit, a veteran with more than 25 years of experience leading technology businesses and building cybersecurity partnerships with federal agencies.

The United States is a constant target for cybercriminals. Recent research reveals that government bodies around the world have been attacked with ransomware more than any other industry. “Trend Micro has demonstrated a commitment to ensuring information security in a way that is tailored to the federal government,” said Chris Krueger, Director of Business Development at Coalfire, a long-time Trend Micro partner. “Public agencies and organizations need flexible and scalable cybersecurity solutions that fit their overall risk management objectives,” he adds.

Among the agencies that rely on Trend Micro's expert solutions and support are: Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA, TSA), Department of Justice (Bureau of Prisons, US Attorneys, Drug Enforcement Agency, FBI), United States Courts, Public Defender's Office, Department of Energy (Los Alamos, Idaho National Lab, Western Area Power, Brookhaven, Western Area Power), Treasury Department, Bank Deposit Guarantee Agency (Deposit Insurance Corporation), Federal Reserve System (Federal Reserve Bank) and the Department of Veterans Affairs (Department of Veterans Affairs – Tri-West), as well as various branches of the US Armed Forces.

“Cybersecurity and incident response teams are overwhelmed with threat alerts and false positives, making prioritization difficult and nearly impossible. In the government area, this is compounded by the impact on productivity and greater exposure to new cyber risks”, comments Renato Tocaxelli, Regional Manager of Government at Trend Micro. “This Trend Micro initiative with the US government underlines our mission to provide threat intelligence with a specialized focus on the public sector, ensuring integrated visibility and more assertive alerts, so that customers can react more quickly to the threats that really matter”, concludes the executive.
