During the event, AWS and ABES announce a partnership to strengthen entrepreneurship and attract talent and investments to the technology sector

São Paulo, September 14, 2021 – The ABES Conference 2021 “Exponential waves and digital resilience” started today, Tuesday (14) with the motto “digital resilience in digital transformation”. Sponsored by Amazon, IBM, Oracle, Sky.One and TOTVS, and curated by The Shift, the event brought as keynote Carolina Morandini, head of portfolio management & scout startups at Wayra Brasil. The executive spoke about the importance of innovation, sustainability, digital transformation and possible futures for a reinvention of companies at this time of pandemic. The event, which has translation into pounds, still has registrations available for the next few days, which will address the business environment and the human factor when it comes to digital transformation.

The first round table of the meeting brought the examples of large companies about pragmatic innovation and addressed the need to think and act outside the box with a stipulated purpose. According to Alexandre Frankel, CEO of Housi and Chairman of the Board of Vitacon, who needed to make changes in his company to meet a new emerging market, to be successful “it is important not to stand still, move and always bring new ideas to your business ”. Monitoring the processes and applying innovations to the business at this time of pandemic were some of the challenges highlighted by the speakers. Ricardo Brandão, CEO and Founder of Sky.One, highlighted the importance of placing innovation as a company culture. "We help small businesses to reinvent themselves, but within our own company we consider it important to revolutionize any and all processes to bring change not only to our customers, but to our company as well." Author of the book “The innovation mindset: The successful journey to boost your company's growth”, Guilherme Horn, Director of Strategy and Innovation at Banco BV, believes that “it is a great challenge to make companies reinvent and change its current mindset, but necessary for the success of companies”. As for Celson Placido, Partner and CIO at Warren, education and business diversity are essential for a better development of companies. “People need to understand that they need to have a diverse company and an open economy to open up their range of business options. It is important to learn to deal with money, seek inclusion, information and financial education”.

André Menezes, Co-Founder & CEO of Next Gen Foods, was the special interviewee of the day and spoke about the disruption that plant based is bringing to the food market. The executive pointed out that this is the rupture that is happening at the moment and a trend that is here to stay. “In terms of resources, to efficiently take us to the future, technology can achieve the same goals as biased foods with very good and healthy nutritional values without the use of agriculture,” says Menezes.

The event's second panel brought companies that dominate emerging technologies and digital businesses to talk about disruption as a corporate practice and share their experiences. For Carolina Sevciuc, Digital Transformation & Innovation & Sustainability at Nestlé, innovation and digital transformation go hand in hand. "Recently, we had an evolution and we thought about four important points: focus, speed, agility and connectivity, which are necessary to have our base to reach our consumers with a much more oiled model and deliver the best experience for them", says the executive. About the startup segment, Ellen spoke about the power of digital transformation for this sector. “We've had several generations of innovations over the years. Nowadays, companies are looking for technologies outside their organizations to have less risk and develop new business”, explains the executive.

Fred Santoro, head of Startups at Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Brazil, also announced the partnership of AWS Activate with the ABES Startup Internship Program. The initiative of the program offered by the association aims to strengthen entrepreneurship and attract talent and investments to the Brazilian technology sector. Lasting 6 months, the program will be made available to startups that are part of AWS Activate, through partnerships with incubators, accelerators, or investment funds. Participants have the opportunity to enjoy all the services offered by ABES to its members, such as participation in its various committees (among them, the regulatory, tax, innovation and LGPD committee), access to market research, information on government funding and development lines and marketplace data, as well as a complete compliance structure and legal consultancy service. With the partnership, all startups that are members of the ABES Startup Internship Program will have access to AWS Activate, an AWS program that offers several benefits to startups to support their growth. These include credits for using AWS cloud computing services, AWS support plan credits, and training from AWS experts.
