Three startups will be selected for mentoring and acceleration program
“The success achieved at the launch of the award in 2015 motivated us to plan a new edition. For Pfizer, which has innovation in its own DNA and invests heavily in research and development in search of new treatments, this is a great opportunity to drive the development of products and solutions that help improve medical practice and, consequently, patients' lives, creating value for society as a whole”, says Pfizer's commercial director, Vagner Pin, who also leads the company's Multi-Channel Marketing area, who created the project.
Brazilian startups can participate in three stages: early-stage (in the initial phase of development), commitment (companies already established, with a solution in beta use by users) and scaling (with finished products and expressive growth in the number of customers). Among the registered companies, 12 will be selected to present their projects to a multidisciplinary panel formed by executives from Pfizer, Berrini Ventures and hospitals and large companies in the healthcare field.
The three winners will be announced on September 27, during the Hospital Innovation Show, in São Paulo. The top three will participate in the Berrini Ventures acceleration cycle. “In the US alone, the Digital Health sector received nearly US$ 1 billion in investment in the first four months of the year. In Brazil, the market is still in its infancy, but it has great potential to develop”, highlights Fernando Cembranelli, CEO of Berrini Ventures.
First edition winners
The first edition of the Pfizer Challenge was held last year. The four winners were LinCare, which developed a smart bracelet for monitoring the elderly; Epistemic, with a device project for early detection of epileptic outbreaks; DoctorID, technology for managing medical shifts and shifts), and Clever Care, a solution for monitoring patients remotely.
