Association acts in the cause through Internet Monitoring and has already removed more than 20,000 illegal ads in 2020 alone

São Paulo, October 21, 2020 - ABES - Brazilian Association of Software Companies was pre-selected from among the entities that may comprise the National Council for Combating Piracy of the Ministry of Justice (CNCP). In all, five representatives of civil society will be chosen to develop the guidelines for formulating and proposing the National Plan to combat piracy and tax evasion, in addition to crimes against intellectual property. Those selected will have a two-year term, with a renewal permitted. The process was carried out under the terms of articles 16 and 22 of Ordinance No. 232/2020 / MJSP, which regulates the Collegiate Internal Regulations. Click on here to see the full announcement.

“We are very honored with the pre-selection, and we are rooted in continuing to actively participate in the Council to combat intellectual property violations, which is part of ABES 'objectives, to ensure a business environment conducive to innovation, dynamic, globally competitive and, mainly, ethical. Through the Internet Monitoring system, in the last year alone, we removed 52,342 ads that promoted pirated products. In addition, the entity was responsible for taking down 33,778 links and 91 websites that offered illegal software downloads ”, explains Rodolfo Fücher, president of the association.

This monitoring has been taking place since 2005 and, since then, it has managed to take down more than 733 thousand illegal contents, including advertisements, links and websites that violate Copyright and Intellectual Property, he adds.

ABES reformulated the initiative “an ethical company” that aims to contribute to the development of an ethical business environment, respecting intellectual property, in this moment of digital transformation. This initiative provides training, compliance policy and reporting channel for companies in the technology sector associated with ABES.
