Chat will be free and open to anyone who wants to participate. Sponsored by EMX Tecnologia, the event will bring together experts to discuss the topic, considering the latest guidelines from the National Data Protection Authority (ANPD)

The General Data Protection Law (LGPD) was enacted to determine that companies, public bodies and other institutions to take better care of the personal data of their customers and employees. But how to put the LGPD into practice in all areas of organizations? What are the best strategies, methodologies and technologies to implement the LGPD and create a culture of personal data protection? To answer this and other questions, ABES – Brazilian Association of Software Companies will hold, on November 10th, the LGPD: Fundamentals and Adequacy chat, which will bring together experienced professionals to talk about the topic, considering the most recent guidelines from the National Data Protection Authority (ANPD). The webinar, which will be sponsored by EMX Tecnologia, will be free and open to anyone who wants to participate.

According to Thomaz Côrte Real, lawyer and specialist in business, digital and data protection law, it will be necessary for companies to adopt a new posture in the treatment of the voluminous amount of personal data that travels through different areas (and also in the homes of employees, depending on remote work), often without proper control and security. “Companies should think about privacy and data protection, from the conception of their products and services to their execution (privacy by design). We have a big challenge ahead, since, according to the Index LGPD ABES EY, only 40,12% of the companies are prepared to comply with the new rules defined by the LGPD. Also according to this index, it is estimated that 27.4% of companies have suffered some violation in the last 2 years. When we make a cut by size, among companies with more than 500 employees, the adequacy index rises to 42,68%, but it is still a low percentage”, he explains.

Brazil is 3rd in the world ranking for personal data theft

A survey carried out by the American company Akamai, which specializes in technology, revealed that Brazil currently ranks 3rd in the world ranking of personal data theft on the internet. The country's position is another point of attention for organizations to adapt to the regulations provided for by the LGPD.

For Rodolfo Fücher, president of ABES, following the LGPD goes far beyond meeting the requirements of the articles contained therein. "The debate to be promoted at this event is of paramount importance and necessary, since companies and other public and private organizations must undergo a major transformation, implementing the culture of privacy and protection of personal data, until then left in the background ”, he declares. Edgard Miter, Director of EMX Tecnologia, agrees: “Compliance with the General Data Protection Law demonstrates the respect, transparency and security of a company in the processing of personal data of the holders and also greatly increases its credibility in the competitive market. Our objective at this event with ABES is to talk a little more about how to adapt and demonstrate compliance in audits”, he says.
