São Paulo, November 1, 2021 – ABES – Brazilian Association of Software Companies will participate in the sixth meeting of the seminar cycle The implementation of 5G in Brazil, a permanent forum for discussion between representatives of civil society, government and academia . Online and free, the 5G event in Brazil: A balance of four aspects related to its implementation takes place on November 5th, at 10:00 am (GMT) and is organized by the Polytechnic School, the Institute for Advanced Studies and the Institute of International Relations at the University of São Paulo. The meeting, which integrates the Think Tank USP in 5G Deployment in Brazil, it will be the last in the series and will close the knowledge homogenization phase. The event will feature presentations by the rapporteurs of the five previous sessions, who will take points presented in previous editions of the forum and will discuss and produce material for the preparation of the report that will be the basis for the continuity of the Think Tank's work. And ABES, always attentive to transformations and adept at the plural debate of ideas, will be represented by Jamile Sabatini Marques, the association's Director of Innovation and Development, Post-Doctor and researcher at the Advanced Institute of USP and Post-Doctorate at EGC/UFSC.

“5G technology has mobile broadband with greater capacity, being able to communicate with more devices and faster. It is a technology with the potential to revolutionize the country's telecommunications industry, as connections will reach Brazilian regions that currently do not have internet access - it is estimated that currently 20% of Brazilian households are without adequate supply or lack of services,” he says.

The roundtable will also have as panelists Carlos Augusto França Vargas, PhD in Innovation Management by the Post-Graduate Program in Administration (PPGA) at FEA/USP and Professor at the Business School at Universidade Positivo; Cecilia Matsumura, Researcher IBE-USP Institute of Brazil Europe Studies, University of São Paulo; Gabriela Gomes Coelho Ferreira, Researcher and Professor of Training Courses in International Negotiations at the Center for the Study of International Negotiations (CAENI/USP); and Lucas Damasceno Pereira, PhD in International Relations (IRI-USP) and major in Law (FD-USP). Currently, ABES represents approximately 2 thousand companies, which total about 85% of the software and services segment's revenue in Brazil, distributed in 24 Brazilian States and the Federal District, responsible for the generation of more than 210 thousand direct jobs and annual revenue of the order of R$ 80 billion in 2020.
